Multi-spectral Image Panchromatic Sharpening, Outcome and Process Quality Assessment Protocol
نویسندگان
چکیده
(GEO). In general, process is easier to measure, outcome is more important. The original contribution of the present study is fourfold. First, existing procedures for quantitative quality assessment (Q 2 A) of the (sole) PAN-sharpened MS product are critically reviewed. Their conceptual and implementation drawbacks are highlighted to be overcome for quality improvement. Second, a novel (to the best of these authors' knowledge, the first) protocol for Q 2 A of MS image PAN-sharpening product and process is designed, implemented and validated by independent means. Third, within this protocol, an innovative categorization of spectral and spatial image quality indicators and metrics is presented. Fourth, according to this new taxonomy, an original third-order isotropic multi-scale gray-level co-occurrence matrix (TIMS-GLCM) calculator and a TIMS-GLCM texture feature extractor are proposed to replace popular second-order GLCMs.

Variational Wavelet Pan-Sharpening
Pan-sharpening is the process of fusing a low resolution multispectral image with a high resolution panchromatic image to obtain a high resolution multispectral image. We propose a new pan-sharpening method called Variational Wavelet Pan-sharpening (VWP) that combines wavelet fusion and the edges of the panchromatic image as an energy minimization problem. Furthermore, we introduce additional e...
متن کاملObject Level Strategy for Spectral Quality Assessment of High Resolution Pan-sharpen Images
Panchromatic and multi-spectral images produced by the remote sensing satellites are fused together to provide a multi-spectral image with a high spatial resolution at the same time. The spectral quality of the fused images is very important because the quality of a large number of remote sensing products depends on it. Due to the importance of the spectral quality of the fused images, its eval...
متن کاملPerformance Analyzing of High Resolution Pan-Sharpening Techniques: Increasing Image Quality For Classification Using Supervised Kernel Support Vector Machine
Pan-sharpening is also known as image fusion, resolution merge, image integration, and multi sensor data fusion has been widely applied to imaging sensors. The purpose of pan-sharpening is to fuse a low spatial resolution multispectral image with a higher resolution panchromatic image to produces an image with higher spectral and spatial resolution. In this paper, we investigated these existing...
متن کاملAnalyzing Multi-sensor Data Fusion Techniques: a Multi-temporal Change Detection Approach
An inevitable tradeoff between spectral and spatial resolution exists in remote sensing systems and it is essential to integrate information from systems with complementary characteristics to improve data interpretability. Panchromatic (PAN) sharpening is a data fusion technique that merges a high spatial resolution PAN image with lower spatial resolution multispectral images. The resulting mer...
متن کاملTesting a Modified PCA-Based Sharpening Approach for Image Fusion
Image data sharpening is a challenging field of remote sensing science, which has become more relevant as high spatial-resolution satellites and superspectral sensors have emerged. Although the spectral property is crucial for mineral mapping, spatial resolution is also important as it allows targeted minerals/rocks to be identified/interpreted in a spatial context. Therefore, improving the spa...
